Hi, I’m Jamie Powers
aka “powerjam”, and I believe in designing digital products with empathy, fostering a collaborative environment, and exploring problems end-to-end.
My Approach
Collaborative
I appreciate learning from and leveraging different perspectives. Including others throughout my design process has enabled my teams and I to explore interesting concepts that may have not been discovered if I designed without others.
End-to-end
From conducting research with users, to fine-tuning pixels, to collaborating with engineers to plan, build, and test – I enjoy exploring problems and crafting designs from start to end.
What coworkers say
“Jamie is already a talented senior-level designer with a vital breadth of experience. She’s a pro who can step into an org and be a great team player, and/or do the end-to-end design autonomously. She will quickly adapt to the teams around her — and she will build relationships that raise the quality of the work and the speed at which it is delivered.“
– Jay Fienberg, Product Design Manager
“Jamie is an exceptional designer! [S]he seamlessly integrated into our team, demonstrating both technical prowess and strong interpersonal skills. Jamie wasted no time delving into our complex data platform and competitor landscape, providing invaluable insights that shaped our product strategy. Her leadership in redesigning our onboarding experience expedited our launch within weeks, thanks to her strategic approach and user-centric mindset.“
– Justine Edrozo, Senior Product Designer
A little bit about me
Since the age of 10, I taught myself HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Photoshop. I pursued a bachelors degree at the University of Washington in Business Administration, focusing on Information Systems and Human Resources, plus a minor in Diversity. After graduating, I worked in tech, gathering and documenting details about business processes and software requirements. 👩🏻💻
While I was a Systems & Data Analyst at Boeing, I learned about software development and methodologies like Agile, Scrum, and Scaled Agile Framework. I transitioned into the roles of UX Designer and Product Owner while working on a program to redesign and consolidate multiple aircraft maintenance data delivery products. ✈️ I’ve been designing ever since.
Outside of work, I enjoy dancing Hula & Tahitian 🌺, practicing Muay Thai 🥊, raising our puppy with my partner 🐾, and exploring Seattle and other cities for good food 🍜
